I am a retired Consulting Engineer who has worked and occasionally sketched in over 20 countries around the world. Self taught and in retirement I paint in both watercolour and oil. Previously I painted in acrylic but I now find oil more rewarding. I admire many forms of figurative art depicting the stories from life and the abundance of shapes and textures in nature including for example artists Nikolay Dubovskoy, Andrew Wyeth and many of the impressionists. My aim is to loosen my own painting styles to better stimulate the imagination but I have no ambition to paint abstracts.
Notes on paintings in the exhibition
The Lightning Tree: This is a tree on one of the wooded walks in Beckenham Place Park – how did it grow to this shape?
Park Walkers Resting: Two walkers rest before deciding which way to go.
